Short version: we collect very little.
Who we are
Yorewire and is based in England. Contact: contact@yorewire.com. The owner is the data controller for the data described here.
What we collect and why
- Newsletter. If you subscribe, we collect your email address and the date you subscribed, and our email provider records whether emails are opened or clicked. We use this to send the weekly newsletter. Lawful basis: your consent, which you can withdraw at any time by unsubscribing.
- Server logs. Our host, Cloudflare, processes IP addresses and request details when you visit, to deliver the site and keep it secure. Lawful basis: legitimate interests in running and securing the site.
- Emails to us. If you write to contact@yorewire.com we keep your message and address so that we can reply. Lawful basis: legitimate interests.
Who handles your data
- Cloudflare: hosting, DNS, email forwarding.
- Our email provider: sends the newsletter, as a processor on our behalf.
- Retailers we link to (for example Bookshop.org or Amazon): if you click an affiliate link, they handle data under their own policies.
Some of these providers are based outside the UK. Where personal data is transferred, we rely on the safeguards those providers offer, such as the UK addendum to standard contractual clauses or an adequacy decision.
How long we keep it
Newsletter details are kept until you unsubscribe. Emails to us are kept for as long as needed to deal with them. Server logs are kept by Cloudflare for the periods it sets.
Your rights
You can ask to see, correct or delete your personal data, to restrict or object to its use, and to withdraw consent at any time. Email contact@yorewire.com. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk.

Yorewire is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect their data.
